Thinking of selling your home, but you’re hesitant to sell in fear that you won’t find a new home in time?
I totally get it. It’s a stressful situation. And it’s one that can make you lose sleep.
Hi, I’m Jennifer Prestwich, the Prestwich Group at Madison & Company Properties.
I understand that the home-buying and selling process can be stressful, especially when you have to do both sell and buy. Things can get complicated if your closings don’t align, or if it takes longer to sell or buy a house than you anticipated. So what happens when you sell your home and you haven’t found your new home yet? You’re wondering where are you gonna live?
Well, here are a few options that you can consider. You can consider finding a home to rent. Renting a house for a bit can give you more time to look for that perfect home without having to settle just because you feel like you have to rush and pick one.
Another option is do a rent back. In this option, you complete the closing process with your buyer, and then both parties agree that you can stay in the house while you rent the home back from the new owner. This is a good option if the new owners are not in any hurry to move, but it’s also good for you, because then you’ll be in a stronger position when you go to buy, because you won’t have to wait for your sale to close.
Another option is to ask the buyer to extend their under contract time. Meaning you can ask the buyers if they’re willing to push back to the closing date to give you a little bit more time.
Bottom line is that there are options. I can explain these options in more detail and help guide you through the process. There are a few more strategies that are available that we can discuss to help you bridge the gap. I’d be happy to help walk you through all your options and to help you find the best solution that’ll work for you.
