Broomfield, CO Homes for Sale
Get to Know Broomfield!
Broomfield, CO began as an agrarian community near the end of the 1800’s, on the heels of those gold-seeking adventurers hoping to strike it rich in the wilderness of Colorado. Prior to this, Native Americans were drawn to the area as they followed the migrating deer, elk, and bison.
In 1885, Adolph Zang purchased 4,000 acres of land for horse breeding and fruit orchards, with tenant farmers working half the land in dryland crops, and half in irrigated farmland. Zang’s 4,000 acres became the foundation for what we now call Broomfield, Colorado.
In the late 1990’s, Broomfield made history by becoming the 64th County in Colorado. Prior to this, Broomfield was the only city in Colorado to be in 4 counties – a logistical challenge for receiving all manner of services! After a 3 year transition period, the City and County of Broomfield officially took effect on November 15, 2001.
Broomfield neighborhoods range from starter homes to executive mansions, from apartment rentals to townhomes and condos. Rolling hills and 8,000 acres of private and public open space offer abundant opportunities for outdoor activities and recreation!
